In prep for the October 1st release of my new Columbus Day song “Chris ’n Iz”, I recently examined more than 20 sources of historical Columbus information, including Columbus’ own letters/logbook/diaries. Yes, bad things happened as a result of Columbus — but you’ll be surprised at the many good things that also took place. Separate out the lies from the ASTONISHING REAL TRUTH about Columbus (both good and bad). (photo credit history.com)
At age four I began unearthing my passion for music, listening to Mom pound out tunes on our family’s old upright piano. I launched my first of 16 years of piano lessons the very next year.
Throughout school I accompanied choral and instrumental groups. I played piano and pipe organ in several churches. I toured with four upper midwest regional rock bands and one Christian band. And church worship bands in Iowa, Minnesota and Florida. I composed — and performed — my first piece of music as a young teen.
Along with members of my first band Mourning Glory, I was inducted into the 2016 Iowa Rock ’n Roll Hall of Fame. I’ve worked with Kenny Rogers (1999) and Apple Records/USA Manager for The Beatles, Ken Mansfield (2011), in addition to Christian recording artists Diana Pierce (1997-2000), Dick Tunney (2019, 2020) and Steve Green (2019).
