My song’s claim ‘Jesus is Light’ comes from the Holy Bible (that’s the Word of God).
The Apostle John tells us Jesus is “the true light that gives light to everyone” (John 1:9).
In Revelation 21:23, John reports The Lamb (Jesus) as the lamp (light) of the city of Heaven.
John writes: “There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every [human being].”
Jesus said: “I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.”
Jesus said: “I am the Light of the world; [the person] who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of Life.’
King David writes: “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?”
John writes: “The city [of Heaven] had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.”
John writes: “This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all.”
Vs 1
(n’) When I get to heaven there’ll be glory all around
and Cherubim and Seraphim, too!
There won’t be any sickness and there won’t be any frowns!
I’d like if you could come with me, too!
Chorus 1
We won’t need the moon, because there won’t be a night
We won’t need the sun, because Jesus is Light!
Radiant beauty of God all around
No tears, death, pain be found!
Jesus is Light! Jesus is Light!
Vs 2
(n’) When I get to heaven I’ll see elders ’round the throne
Crowns of gold on top of their heads!
I’ll walk in sin-free glory far away from Satan’s roam
Come join me in God’s heaven instead!
Chorus 2
We won’t need the moon, because there won’t be a night
We won’t need the sun — the Lamb is our Light!
Radiant glory of God all around
No tears, death, pain be found!
Jesus is Light! Jesus is Light!
Bridge
Jesus is Light — yeah! Jesus is, Jesus is, Jesus is Light!
Jesus is Light … (rpt 8x)
Vs 3
(n’) If you come to heaven there’ll be glory all around
with Cherubim and Seraphim, too!
You won’t have any sickness and you won’t have any frowns!
Just make a choice to come with me, too!
“Jesus is Light” musically paints a playful, youthful, Biblical perspective of heaven:
√ No more sickness.
√ No more sorrows.
√ No more pain.
√ And no more evil!
Instead what we’ll find is God’s perfect love. Complete joy. Total peace. All this and much more! — for an eternity.
I began writing “Jesus is Light” while still in school in Iowa. I finally completed the bridge, song ending and remaining lyrics during 2021 in my downstairs garage and upstairs home studio in Orlando — along with help from my super talented friends and music pros at Nashville for Hire:
√ Lofthill—vocals;
√ Zachariah Witcher—bass guitar;
√ Sam Martinez—electric guitar; and
√ a couple other great talents on the drum kit and backup vocals.
I wrote “Jesus is Light” because I long to see other people around the world give serious consideration to the claims of Jesus, and the reality of Heaven or Hell when we die.
Choose Jesus, and live!

HEAVEN is real. But not everyone who dies is qualified for Heaven.
HEAVEN is the reward for believers who trust in the atoning death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins.
HEAVEN is the place of eternal life where you’ll finally behold the radiant, sin-free, glorious presence of God — our righteous, loving, merciful Heavenly Father.
HEAVEN’s eternal life is a full, complete life of such glory and perfection, that mere human words can’t begin to describe. And this joyous, abundant life lasts forever ... it’s eternal.
HEAVEN IS REAL!
Heaven is more perfect than we can ever imagine ... No more sickness. No more sorrows. No more pain.
After your earthly body dies, your soul and spirit (the real you) continue to live on forever — either in Heaven or Hell.
Don’t be fooled ... you don’t just ‘disappear’ into nothingness. There is no third option. It’s either Heaven or Hell.
HELL is real. No parties in Hell. No water in Hell. No light in Hell. Only wicked, vicious demons, unquenchable fire, and painful, eternal punishment. Hell is a real place prepared by God for the Devil and his angels (the demons) — and for those who sin by rejecting what God accomplished through Jesus Christ (Matt 25:41). See more Bible references about Hell at the bottom of this page.
No one is sin-free. Beginning with Adam and Eve, everyone ever alive on earth has sinned (Rom 3:23), and the wages of sin is death — but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord! (Rom 6:23)
Where will you go when you die?
The choice is yours — but YOU need to make the choice before you die.
Heaven or Hell when you die? The choice is yours — based on your relationship to Jesus.
You can’t earn your way into Heaven by being good enough. Not even by pious religious practice. Instead, your eternal home in Heaven is based on your earthly relationship to the Son of God — Jesus Christ the Messiah, the sacrificial Lamb of God.
Other roads cannot take you to Heaven. As a matter of fact, the road to eternal life in Heaven is quite narrow. When the skeptical disciple Thomas (yes — he’s the ‘Doubting Thomas’) asked Jesus, “How can we know the way?” (John 14:5), Jesus replied that He alone is the ONLY way to Heaven (John 14:6):
“I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Jesus also made other claims about Himself as the pathway to eternal life in Heaven:
Jesus longs to welcome you — PERMANENTLY! — into the Light of His presence in Heaven!
Prayer is simply talking with God. You can sit, stand, kneel, fold your hands, raise your hands — eyes opened or closed — just talk to God!
Use your own words to pray:
√ Tell God you are sorry for your sins and for everything wrong that you have ever done.
√ Thank Jesus for dying on the cross to pay the penalty for your sins!
√ Thank God for resurrecting Jesus from the dead!
√ Ask Jesus to come into your heart, and become the Lord and King of your life!
√ Ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit!
√ Proclaim that Jesus is Lord!
Romans 10:9 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Tell God you are sorry for your sins, and ask Jesus to come into your heart as your Lord and Savior!
If you meant that prayer, I’ve got GOOD NEWS for you when you die:
YOU ARE NOW QUALIFIED FOR HEAVEN! (yes — that’s where you are going when you die!)
AND ... YOU’VE BEEN SAVED FROM GOING TO HELL!
Some helpful next steps:
√ Begin fellowshipping regularly with other believers (church, small Bible study prayer groups)
√ Seek out one-on-one discipleship in-person (or online) with another more mature believer
√ Read God’s Word (The Holy Bible) regularly
√ Pray regularly (talk to God, listen to God)
√ Seek out pubic baptism; publicly share your new-found faith in Jesus!
√ Ask God how He wants to use you here on earth until you go to be with Him in Heaven
Romans 8:34-39 “Christ Jesus who died — more than that, who was raised to life — is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? ... No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
It’s your relationship to Jesus, the Son of God the Father, that qualifies you for Heaven!
The Bible continually warns us about Hell — there are more than 160 references in the New Testament alone. More than 70 of these references were uttered by Jesus himself.
Jesus does more than simply reference Hell; He describes Hell in honest detail. Jesus explained Hell as a place of torment (Luke 16:23), eternal punishment (Matt 25:46), of unquenchable fire (Matt 3:12, Mark 9:43) where the worm does not die (Mark 9:48). He called Hell an eternal, everlasting fire (Matt 18:8), a blazing furnace (Matt 13:42, 13:50) where people will weep and gnash their teeth in anguish and regret (Matt 13:42, Matt 22:13) and in which there is no water to drink (Luke 16:23-24) and no possible way to get out (Luke 16:25-26). Because there is no light in Hell, Jesus further describes Hell as a place of outer darkness (Matt 25:30). Jesus warns that both soul and the entire whole body are destroyed in Hell (Matt 5:29-30, Matt 10:28).
Jesus talked about Hell more than Heaven, and described Hell vividly. There’s no denying that Jesus knew the eternal catastrophic, brutal, ravaging reality of Hell. DON’T GO THERE!
Don’t fool yourself, Hell is real, and there is no escape. But you don’t have to go there!
